Going into the final race, it’s as tight as it can get… Q and New Wave are tied with equal points for the win. Calvi network is out only one point…Q trying some thing different with a committee boat start. Q bolts out to the right with Samba Pa Ti going with him…

Although Samba Pa Ti had the lead at the first mark, Ecklund blistered the lead charging the left gate several boat lengths ahead of the fleet. Next closest was Taboo then, Calvi Network in third.

For the start… Red totally launched off the committee boat end. Big lefty at the start putting a bit of a traffic jam at the pin. Highlife looking pretty sharp at the start too!

As teams wondered down to the docks today, they were greeted with overcast skies and again wondered what was in store for the day. On the way out to the course now, and man is it beautiful. Sunny skies are on tap, 10-15 mph are forecasted… We’ll see…

2008 Gold Cup Regatta, Results – Shake-Up After Saturday Protests

Protests ran late last night and they did alter the standings. Marty Kullman and Mike Carroll’s New Wave are still in the top spot, however Jeff Ecklund’s STAR took a devastating DSQ in race six dropping them from second overall to seventh.
