Before you head West to do Nationals, plan to attend the 2009 Sail Newport Regatta! Taking place in the historic city of Newport, the venue is embedded with maritime culture and tradition. It is a three-day regatta held at the height of the summer sailing season. Newport is a fantastic venue because of the variety of conditions can range tremendously, therefore the top title is one that hard-fought yet well deserved. The Melges 32 loves Newport, as it has played host many times to the Nationals.

The Harbor Springs Championship is the first of its kind for the Melges 32 in the Midwest. Held in conjunction with the Ugotta Regatta, the Little Traverse City Yacht Club plays host to this awesome event. The 2009 Verve Cup Offshore Regatta will be posted by the prestigous Chicago Yacht Club on August 13-16. It’s the largest of it’s kind in the USA during the month of August. Just a short two weeks ago the International Melges 32 Class Association in full coordination with the US Melges 32 Fleet announced the formation of the 2009 MELGES 32 GREAT LAKES GOLD CUP SERIES. The series includes three of the best and most high-profile events in the Great Lakes region, ensuring the class gets a lot of mileage in the Melges 32 during the Summer.

The NOR for the 2009 Chicago Verve Cup is now available. This event is the third regatta on the forthcoming of the 2009 Melges 32 Great Lakes Gold Cup Series. Plan to attend all three events – the Chicago NOOD on June 19-21, the Great Lakes Championship on July 31-August 2 and the Verve Cup completes the Series on August 13-16. This is the perfect time to get the spring and summer racing season on track!
